Aussie Adventure Sitters

42, Vet and Consultant

32, Scientist

Hello friends near and far! We are Kate and Hugh, a Canadian and Australian couple living in Australia. We’re friendly, kind, caring, respectful, and we absolutely love travelling and meeting furry friends along the way.

We're probably best described as 'outdoor enthusiasts'. We hike, camp, surf, SUP and cycle, among other things. We are passionate about getting outside and treading lightly.

Kate is veterinarian and epidemiologist. She has her own consultancy and has worked remotely since October 2019. Her recent contracts have involved teaching at the university level, providing technical advice to government and scientific writing.

She worked in clinical veterinary practice until 2012 and as a equine and small animal emergency veterinarian from 2006 until 2012. She brings a wealth of experience when caring for your treasured pets.

As a university student she did a lot of pet sitting, including for cats that required injectable and oral medication.

She's from Ontario where she stayed until graduating vet school in 2006. She lived in Alberta and BC from 2006 to 2012 after which time she moved to Australia.

She currently lives in service to a cat, Chocolate. Over the years she has served dogs, cats, chickens and horses.

Hugh is a virology and genome scientist. He worked for the state infectious disease reference laboratory from 2015 until 2021 in Melbourne, Australia and now works for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Canberra, Australia.

He grew up around a variety of small animals like cats, dog and chickens from a young age. As part of his current work he cares for several rabbits. He has house sat small furry animals in the past like cats and dogs for friends. He provides loving care to young and old pets alike.
