72, Interpretive Guide
We are a married couple, both 72 years young and in good health and enjoying retirement, but far from tired. We anticipate and look foreward to ongoing experiences and exploration of the exciting world around us. Location is not a major issue.
As of January 2024, we have done 49 house/pet/farm sits and dealt with various situations as we traveled back and forth across Canada. We also did a two month house/pet sit in Austin Texas.
After leaving the Yukon a few years ago, we have been travelling without a long term home base. We did a winter farm sit in the Cariboo, off the grid which required care of solar systems and wood fire heating.
Currently we have no pets of our own but have loved and cared for others' dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, chickens, goats etc.
We have the greatest respect for others' property. The cleanliness of our environment, both inside and out is essential to our peace of mind. You can rest assured that your home and pets will be well cared for during your absence. We keep in regular touch with home owners to help them have a relaxing and peaceful time away.
Lorraine is originally from the Sunshine Coast where she grew up in a farming community, operated power boats, and served as a member of Search and Rescue for many years. She is retired from 30 + years nursing at Powell River Hospital, then did travel nursing in B.C., Alberta, and Yukon, often driving long distances into remote communities.
James was born in Toronto and moved across Canada following career advancement opportunities, working 25 plus years in sales, marketing, and management. He also has experience running a very successful home based business. Four years exposure to wilderness living including setting up and maintaining mining exploration camps in Yukon and NWT, followed by 4 years as a wilderness guide based in Dawson City has enabled him to hone his knowledge and confidence in a non-reliant setting. These experiences have instilled common sense when it comes to problem solving.
Experience has enabled us to deal with adversity as a couple. We both cherish the quiet peacefulness of self-sufficiency and off the grid living yet we are also comfortable in an urban setting.
Please consider us as your best and safest option. We look forward to hearing from you so that we can discuss your needs and how we can best fulfill them.
