54, Forester
I just joined this site. I’m 54, Dog and cat lover. I work as a government Forester (which means more computer work than field work these days). I have always had pets in my life. I currently dog and cat sit for friends and family in my own home but am looking to expand into house sits as well as a way to explore the lower mainland and Vancouver Island. I’m responsible, reliable and respectful of people’s homes and the trust that is involved for you to let me into your home and take care of your pets.
I would be happy to provide references if we seem like a match.
My first pet as an adult was a lovely long haired Maine coon cat from the SPCA that I adopted during university. Once I had my own place, I adopted my first dog as well. A 7 month old golden retriever who was being given up because her family was separating. These two were inseparable for the next eleven years until my golden passed over the rainbow bridge. My cat lived a long and snuggly 18 years. I have had 2 more goldens during and since that time (all second homes) and now have my first ever puppy …who is no longer a puppy - she’s 4 years old but acts like a puppy. When I house sit, I will have a friend look after her if she can’t come with me.
I work from home most days so I can combine a bit of vacation with working remotely. I can do 1 to 2 week house sits.
