We need a house sitter

Tammi

Looking for someone to care for our pets for just over one week in February.

The animals:
Blue- 13 years old (will be 14 by the date of this sit), strictly indoor kitty. He likes his little routines and being the one to ask for attention when he wants it. He likes someone that will be slow with him sniffing your hair and face and giving him lots of treats.

Sonny- 11 year old chocolate lab. The most friendly boy, loves attention and people. He is getting older and a little stiff so he doesn’t need hours and hours of walks but like his casual strolls a couple times a day and of course just even short bathroom breaks outside between strolls.

Our apartment- it’s a very small one bedroom in Marpole but a nice size for one person. Very close to a Safeway and lots of good restaurants. Across the street from transit to go directly downtown as well. Best suited for one person just due to size and having a ‘new’ person around is easier for Blue when he isn’t overwhelmed with too much.

We also have several plants so if you know anything about keeping them watered/alive- that’s a bonus!

This apartment is located on the 4th floor of a quiet and clean building. The pets, Blue and Sonny, are personable and, being senior in years, not high-energy. Their owners maintained contact throughout the sit, asking how things were progressing and responding in a timely fashion. This area is easy to access via transit, the neighborhood is safe and walkable, and there are lots of food options within a short walk. This was a pleasant first sitting experience with House Sitters Canada!

We stayed 7 days at Tammi and Sean’s comfy apartment. Really beautiful neighborhood, good restaurants and cafés around and close to Vancouver downtown. Sonny is such a sweet big doggo and really easy to handle. We really enjoyed the long, calm walks with him. Blue needs some time to get used to you but once he does he's pretty chill and enjoys getting his snacks from you. Tammi was very communicative and friendly. All of the things she said about Blue and Sonny were true. No surprises. She also did warn that it was a tiny apartment and that there was not much space, and that I would have to sleep in her bedroom. Keeping up with sweeping/vacuuming is essential as there is a lot of shedding, and emptying litter box must absolutely be done regularly as it’s a small space and can get smelly quickly. (Par for the course on any sit, but especially in the space). ... MORE

Blue is adorable, non-stop cute. He's easy to care for and he did an excellent job of keeping me company. Tammi was appreciative of my time and efforts with Blue and kept in touch regularly to make sure we were doing well. Her apartment in Kitsilano is comfortable, quiet, and close to just about everything—plenty of shops, cafes, the beach, and multiple bus lines.

Tammi is great, easy going with excellent communication, a cozy apt with close access to buses and walking distance to shopping and the beach. Blue definitely missed his mom being aloof for a couple days but we soon became best friends and he definitely loves his treats. I would definitely sit for Tammi and Blue again.

No rating Tammi is selective about who stays with Blue, because he doesn't like to have his routine disrupted, and he needs a sitter who will understand him. Aside from some irritability at first, he was easy to care for. He doesn't have any special requirements. At first he didn't like me being in his space - but he soon got used to my presence.
