Hello potential house sitters, writers, musicians and meditators, your retreat begins here! :)
Being to relax immediately as you listen to the sound of the river from the front porch, walk through the 30 acres of gorgeous property and breathe the fresh mountain air. My cute cabin is a 1 bedroom (roughly 600 sq ft.) on the gorgeous Oyster River in Black Creek, Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC. It is a rural property, however it is serviced by BC transit and there is a pick up about a 10 minute walk away. If you like cold plunging, this is a dream destination....the river is about 1 minute away. You can float the oyster in the summer, and I will let you know of all the secret spots for exploring. The oyster actually warms up nicely in the summer.
This cabin is on 30 acres so it's really easy to go for a 20 minute dog walk without even leaving the property! Black Creek is an awesome rural community, the grocery store is very close, as is many nature parks and the saratoga beach. Also Black creek sauna and cold plunge is just up the road. The Black creek community centre has a gym and all different kinds of drop in classes. e.g. there are 4 different yoga classes each week. They are super friendly and welcoming to newcomers. It really is just amazing out here! BUT you have to like being out of town. If not, then it might not be a fit.
It's a little community I live in, and there is a few other rental properties out here. The neighbours are kind and helpful. We often have bonfires and potlucks, so there could be the potential for that, but no obligation.
Shanti (my pooch) is a 4 year old Husky Lab cross, and she is a sweetie. She (we) actually volunteers for St. John Ambulance as a therapy dog, so she is well trained. She lives up to her name, she is peace. BUT she loves her dog walks, so hopefully you do too. She is actually really active and loves running and bike rides, so if you do that, that is a bonus. However, she is just as happy to go for walks.
The cabin is well equipped for relaxing and cooking. It has a full bathroom, with a shower, and there is a composting toilet. Don't worry, it looks like a regular toilet, and doesn't smell, and I promise, you won't need to deal with the compost part, I will do that after you leave :)
There will only be garden starts (little plants) to tend to, watering them one a day.
