59, Retired Motor Coach/Special Needs School Bus Driver
63, Special Needs School Bus Driver
Lesbian Couple looking to housesit/petsit over various timeframes & specifically Vancouver Island during the winter.
We are an adventurous lesbian couple who have been together for over 24 years. We are available to Housesit / Petsit over various timeframes. We specifically plan to be on Vancouver Island for a few months starting in December and will be making our way back through BC (with an open timeline for our eventual return to Alberta).
We both used to work together as School Bus Drivers. (Kimberly drove Special Needs children & Linda drove an 86 passenger bus).
Linda changed companies a few years ago and was driving Special Needs children.
Kimberly "switched gears" and took a full-time 14 day/7 day fly in/fly out job in Fort MacMurray, Alberta and subsequently in Kitimat, British Columbia.
Kimberly retired end of June and Linda will retire before Christmas.
We are highly trained and have taken many courses that assist us in high stress and unpredictable situations (including medical emergencies) so we are more than capable of handling a variety of situations with expertise and most importantly.....with common sense.
We love to travel and absolutely love to travel within Canada, the US and Mexico. We would love the chance to take care of someones pets & home while having the time to explore during our sit. We also love to hike and bike (flatter trails these days) and enjoy outdoor activities. "Pickleball" has become the new sport of choice for us these days :)
We volunteer a lot of our time for several worthy causes. We believe that we all should do our part in serving our community and love taking the opportunity to do so while engaging with people from all over the world - while, in many cases, making long lasting friendships.
Kimberly currently is a volunteer board member for a Global LGBTQ Sports Board and is responsible for the oversight and delivery of the Gay Games. She is the Officer of Sports for the Federation of Gay Games who are celebrating its 42nd Anniversary this year!
In November 2023, the Games were held in Hong Kong & Guadalajara. We spent 2 weeks (16 hour days) in GDL volunteering for this event. Seeing folks lives changing before our very eyes makes every effort worthwhile!
Our next event will be held in 2026 in Valencia, Spain (the "City of Light") where we will see over 10,000 people participate in sports, arts and cultural events. Our target outreach group will be from African and Arabic nations where the majority of people from our community can be incarcerated or killed just for being themselves, so to be able to offer them a week of "Being True to Themselves", and helping them find an even brighter light burning in their lives, will beforever life-changing!
Linda assists Kimberly with numerous responsibilities during her global events and helps to raise funds for the "Saving Grace Animal Society" & the "Hope Mission". She loves to take care of our 2 Grandsons when the opportunity arises.
We both have been long time volunteers with the local Food Bank & Santas Anonymous, delivering much needed food hampers, donation items and gifts during the holidays.
We both also canvas for donation items for use in silent auctions specifically for the "United Way" and for "Daniels Place" (an organization that raises funds to create sensory rooms for autistic children). Daniel was a former high school student of Kimberly's and who passed away 7 years ago. Volunteering for various local Special Olympic events is also a very big part of both our lives.
Linda's past work experience also included being a cleaning specialist for upscale residential homes.
Kimberly has been a professional soccer referee for 48 years and has recently taken up refereeing volleyball.
We had a wonderful bichon/cocker cross for 14 years but she sadly passed away a few years ago so we understand how pets are indeed a huge part of a family. Please note that we don't permit dogs to sleep with us. We would love to be able to take care of your pet(s) and your home while continue to gain more opportunities to explore and creating lifelong experiences along the way in your hometown and area.
