Peachland British Columbia

We live in a beautiful small town on a lake between Kelowna and Penticton. In the summer it is a tourist destination with lots of things to do and see.

It is normally hot with little rain and there are many wineries, events, and places to visit .

One of the most important things we want is for our housesitters to enjoy their stay, which is ideally suited to a couple. The basic needs are to feed the cat, water the hanging baskets, and attend to the pool in the morning and evening. We expect the housesitter to have free time during the rest of the day. Our kind neighbour is usually willing to look after our cat if you took a day trip and wanted to stay somewhere else overnight. as long as we are informed and it was only the once.

We have had a regular housesitter in the past, but he is retiring. Our property consists of a carriage house and guest suite downstairs, which we rent in the summer. We live on the upper floor, which consists of 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a lounge and dining area, a porch overlooking the front lawn, and a covered deck with an eating area overlooking the pool.

You are not expected to interact with guests in the suite or Carriage House. We are selective regarding who we allow to book our guest's accommodations, and our guests have to agree to our house rules, which include only registered guests permitted onto the property. In June, we already have some lovely repeat guests booked for the second week of June 2025. We will hire a cleaner to do any cleaning when necessary.

Duties

1) We have a cat called Tinker who is outside during the day, but we keep him in at night.
2) We have a pool that needs to be covered in the evening and removed in the morning if the weather is chilly overnight. A robotic cleaner is put in the pool in the morning to clean it, and removed after about half an hour to an hour. Leaves are skimmed off if required. We have a dip stick to measure the chlorine which can sometimes need adjusting. Once a week a sample needs to be taken to our local pool store who will test the water and give instructions to adjust as necessary.
3) The lawn needs mowing weekly, the hanging baskets need watering daily, and the rest of the garden is irrigated.

5) Respond promptly when we call.
6 Keep the thermostat on 22/23 during the day as the air conditioner for downstairs is controlled upstairs. We usually turn it off at night around 9.00 pm due to the noise.

Our pool is a key feature of our property and is available for guests between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. As a housesitter, you are also welcome to enjoy the pool anytime, adding a touch of luxury to your stay. However, please ensure that the pool is maintained and the cover is used per our instructions to keep it in good condition for all users.
