I am looking for someone to take care of our chickens and home while we are away for a couple weeks over Christmas and New Years. Our plans are not set yet and the dates are a but flexible, but we are hoping to have someone stay here 10-14 days.
We have a large home and just under 1 acre, backing onto a mountain, but just a couple minutes from town in beautiful Grand Forks, BC. There is also a large grocery store 1km away.
We have 3 spoiled chickens. In the winter, they wake up around 8 am and have breakfast of cut up veggies, fruit, rice etc, dishes filled with chicken scratch, grains etc, water filled. One of the chickens is on medication because of chronic leg pain. She usually will take this in blueberries in the morning, but occassionally will need it give
in a liquid syringe. Their water gets checked during the day to make sure its not frozen and I give them food in the middle of the day, either more fruit and veggies, warm oatmeal or noodles, cooked veggies etc to warm up, and then fresh veggies and fruit, fish, scrambled eggs or something like that again around 3pm as well and then they go in for the night around 5pm and the coop gets closed up at that time.
If it snows, there will also be snow shovelling, and I have a bunch of house plants, but other than that it is pretty low maintenance since it will be winter. Looking forward to meeting another wonderful pet sitter!

Kylie and family were gracious hosts and put a lot of consideration into setting up the house sit and dog sit for me. They arranged a prior meet up before leaving to make sure we were all on the same page about the house & their dog Ben. They also went through the effort of recommending great hiking spots for us in the area. I was able to communicate with them online while they were away also, should anything come up. House sitting for Kylie was a fantastic experience. Communication with Kylie was great, her and her family were extremely friendly and welcoming, the house was comfortable and in a beautiful area, and the pets (Ben and Hamilton) were absolute pleasures to look after and spend time with. I would happily return and sit for them again if asked, and would definitely recommend them to anyone else who has the opportunity.
