Thompson Okanagan - Central Okanagan
Nancy
Our house is a comfortable, well-maintained 3-bedroom house on 3 levels, on a large lot in a very pleasant suburban neighborhood of Kelowna, British Columbia. Downtown Kelowna is a 15-minute drive away, the Lower Mission and South Pandosy commercial area is at most 10 minutes away from the house, and a new shopping area in the Upper Mission is less than 10 minutes away by car. The area is served by transit and is bike-friendly but having one's own vehicle is the more practical way to get into and out of the neighborhood, and to explore the lovely rural area and attractions of Southeast Kelowna. There is an extensive network of hiking/biking trails just a few minutes' walk from the house.
The pets are Avis, a 15-year-old, feisty cat who loves a lap to sit on and an occasional brief foray outdoors, and Annie, an active 5-year-old, medium-sized dog (40 lbs) who loves to go on walks and play in the yard, and then relax, preferably with humans. Her DNA reveals quite a mix of breeds, principally Malamute, Husky and "Supermutt", with some shepherd and retriever rounding it out. Annie was rescued as a puppy and is now a well-adjusted dog, but is initially wary of strangers, so we like to have an overnight overlap period with housesitters so she knows they're part of the household to ease the transition once we leave. Annie has no aggression issues with people or other dogs.
Pet care: feed Avis and Annie around 7 am and 5 pm. Annie will walk as much and as often as you're willing and able, but at a minimum 1 or 2 daytime walks adding up to an hour. Besides mealtimes, Avis likes to sit on laps and sometimes enjoys being brushed. Both typically spend most of their day in the house. Annie can be left alone in the house (with Avis) for a few hours at a time.
